My home, Penang is famous as "The Pearl of the Oriental". No doubt, it is a heavenly place for food. A lot of cheap and mouth watering local cuisine you can find around this small island. Here's some guides on where to go for your local and the yummy delights around this small island. All the foods below are the MUST to try in Penang.
1) CHAR KOAY TEOW - The koay teow is stir fried with dark soy sauce, chilli, belacan, prawns cockles, beansprout and chopped chinese chives. You can search the best one for yourself in Sin Hwa Coffeeshop located in Pulau Tikus which is just opposite the police station.

2) ASAM LAKSA - Asam laksa consists of white noodles served with mackerel in a sour soup. Besides, it is served with pineapple, thin sliced onions, and thick prawn paste. You can get yourself the best on at Balik Pulau. Other than Asam Laksa, they have also served Thai Style Laksa as well.

4) PENANG CENDOL - Cendol is a dessert served with coconut milk and green jelly. It is added with shaved ice as well as brown sugar. The most famous stall in Penang is located at Penang Road. This Cendol stall has attracted many tourists around the world.

6) HOKKIEN HAR MEE - Hokkien mee served with noodles and soup made from prawns topping from mantis prawn, hard boiled egg, short spare ribs, and squid. You can try the best one at Seang Lim Toptaste along Macalister Road.
